EnerSys (ENS) Monday reported second-quarter net earnings of $43.8 million or $0.90 per share, compared to $28.3 million or $0.57 per share last year.
Adjusted earnings for the quarter was $0.92 per share compared to $0.58 per share last year. On average, nine analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.87 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales for the second quarter grew 1 percent to $554.2 million from $547.2 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $568.42 million for the quarter.
Looking forward to the third quarter, the company expects adjusted earnings of $0.77 to $0.81 per share. Analysts currently estimate earnings of $0.89 per share last year.
