Lithuanian Retail Sales Rise In December

Lithuania's retail sales excluding motor vehicle sales rose in December, following a decline in the previous month, data released by the Department of Statistics showed on Monday.

Retail sales, except sales of motor vehicles and motorcycles and repair, rose an unadjusted 16.5 percent month-on-month in December, after dropping 5.4 percent in November. The increase was the strongest since December 2011.

Food product sales increased 22.3 percent, while sales of non-food goods rose 15 percent. Clothing and footwear sales grew 14.7 percent.

Year-on-year, retail sales rose 1.4 percent in December.

Meanwhile, sales fell by a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in December annually and declined by a working-day adjusted 2.7 percent sequentially.
