Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported fourth quarter net income of $1.82 per share Tuesday morning, up from $0.08 per share last year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.18.
Valero Energy gapped open sharply higher Tuesday and climbed for the majority of the afternoon. Shares finished up by 4.96 at $43.77 on the highest volume of the year. The stock has been on an upward trend for the last 2 1/2 months and set a new high for the year.
