Lithuania's Economic Growth Slows In Q4

The Lithuanian economy expanded at a slower pace in the fourth quarter, preliminary data released by the Department of Statistics showed Wednesday.

Gross domestic product (GDP), at current prices, increased 4 percent on an annual basis in the fourth quarter, slower than the 4.4 percent growth recorded in the third quarter. In the second quarter, the economy expanded 2.1 percent.

GDP increased a seasonally and working-day adjusted 1 percent during the three months ended December compared to the third quarter, when it rose by 1.2 percent.

In the whole of 2012, GDP increased 3.6 percent from the preceding year. Driving the latest increase, the industrial sector recorded a 4.3 percent annual growth, while the agriculture sector and the service sector expanded by 8.6 percent and 3.7 percent respectively.
