Inflation in the Philippines rose slightly to 3 percent in January from 2.9 percent in December, data from the National Statistics Office showed Tuesday.
The figure matched economists' forecast. The core inflation, excluding selected food and energy items, rose to 3.6 percent in January from 3.3 percent in the previous month.
Month-on-month, the CPI rose 0.5 percent compared to a 0.1 percent decline in December.
Separately, the statistical office reported that the producer price index fell 3.6 percent in December, following a 3 percent decline in November. Month-on-month, PPI fell 0.4 percent.
