Information technology services provider Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) posted third-quarter net income attributable to common shareholders of $510 million, or $3.27 per share, as against a loss of $1.39 billion, or $8.96 per share a year before. Income from continuing operations totaled $123 million, or $0.77 per share this quarter, versus a $1.42 billion, or $9.15 per share loss in the previous year.
Revenues for the recent period were $3.78 billion, a 2.8% increase in constant currency from last year's $3.69 billion.
On average, 7 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.58, on $3.69 billion revenue for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
In addition, the company has raised its fiscal 2013 target, now expecting earnings per share from continuing operations in the range of $2.50 - $2.70, while 8 analysts project full-year earnings of $2.37 per share. Earlier, earnings target for fiscal 2013 were set at $2.30 - $2.50 per share.
