Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) is up. The company's fourth quarter earnings improved from the prior year period. Total revenues rose 3.9 percent, but were below Wall Street view. Walmart U.S. reported 1.0 percent comp sales growth in its fourth quarter. The company expects 2014 earnings per share in line with market view, although its first quarter earnings guidance was below estimates. The company also raised its annual fiscal year 2014 dividend by 18 percent.
Berry Petroleum Co. (BRY) is surging 19 percent to $46.15. LINN Energy LLC (LINE) and LinnCo, LLC (LNCO) have agreed to acquire all of the company's outstanding shares for total consideration of $4.3 billion, including the assumption of debt. The consideration to be received by Berry shareholders is valued at $46.2375 per share. LINE is up over 3 percent to $38.00, while LNCO is gaining 4 percent to $38.62.
WSP Holdings Limited (WH) is jumping 72 percent to $2.75. The company has entered into a definitive agreement for a going private transaction valued at about $893.6 million, including the assumption of outstanding debt.

Gentium S.p.A.(GENT) is plunging 41 percent to $7.00 after it revealed that preliminary feedback from the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use, suggests that it may give an opinion against approval of Marketing Authorization Application for Defibrotide to treat and prevent hepatic veno-occlusive disease in adults and children undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation therapy.
Tesla Motors, Inc. (TSLA) fell 7 percent to $35.71 following the release of its quarterly results.
VeriFone Systems, Inc. (PAY) is sliding 35 percent to $20.66 based on the news about its weak first quarter preliminary results and second quarter forecast.
