Cheniere Energy Partners Q4 Loss Widens

Oil and gas company Cheniere Energy Partners LP. (CQP) Friday reported a wider loss for the fourth quarter impacted by development expenses for the Liquefaction Project and losses due to the early extinguishment of debt.

For the period, Cheniere Energy posted net loss of $63.52 million, wider than the prior-year loss of $7.46 million. The loss on extinguishment of debt was $42.58 million in the fourth quarter versus nil a year earlier. Adjusted for the items, the loss was $18.4 million.

On a per share basis, loss recorded was $0.06 versus a profit of $0.30 last year. On average, two analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated loss per share of $0.05 for the quarter. Analysts estimate typically exclude one-time items.

Total revenue for the quarter declined to $67.3 million from $70.82 million. Analysts were looking for revenue of $68.30 million.

Total operating costs and expenses for the period widened to $47.69 million from $33.78 million last year.
