Cracker Barrel Old Country Store (CBRL) reported second quarter adjusted net income of $1.43 per share Tuesday morning, up from $1.20 per share a year ago. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.25. The company expects to report third quarter EPS of $0.90 to $0.95 and between $4.60 and $4.80 for the full year 2013. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.92 and $4.65.
Cracker Barrel gapped open higher Tuesday and spiked to the upside in early trade, but settled into a range for the majority of the session. Shares finished up by 5.80 at $72.75 on the highest volume of the year. The stock surged past resistance and set a new high for the year.
