MarkWest Energy Partners L.P. (MWE) Wednesday reported a profit for the fourth quarter compared to a loss in the year-ago quarter, driven mainly by higher revenues and lower expenses.
The Denver, Colorado-based company's attributable net profit for the fourth quarter was $31.8 million or $0.22 per share, compared to a loss of $71.0 million or $0.87 per share in the same quarter last year.
On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.34 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Meanwhile, total revenues for the latest quarter grew to $371.51 million from $333.91 million in the prior-year quarter, while five analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $391.01 million for the fourth quarter.
