Palo Alto Networks Slips To Loss For Q2

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (PANW) reported a loss in the second-quarter of $2.5 million or $0.04 per share, which compared to a net income of $0.4 million, or break-even per share in the year-ago period, echoing a spike in marketing and sales expenses to $45.7 million from $25.6 million in the prior year.

Non-GAAP net income for the latest first quarter was $3.9 million, or $0.05 per share, compared to $2.5 million, or $0.04 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, twenty five analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.04 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Meanwhile, total revenue for the quarter surged to $96.5 million from $56.7 million in the year-ago period, while twenty two analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $93.29 million for the quarter.
