Hungary's merchandise trade surplus decreased more than initially estimated in December, final data released by the Central Statistical Office showed Monday.
The trade surplus fell to EUR143.1 million in December from EUR675.9 million in November. The latest figure was notably lower than the EUR192.3 million surplus recorded in preliminary estimates.
Export of goods declined 9.9 percent on an annual basis to EUR5.44 billion during the month. In November, the value of shipments was EUR7.3 billion.
The value of imports decreased 7.4 percent year-on-year to EUR5.29 billion in December. In November, goods valued EUR6.62 billion were imported.
In the whole of 2012, the volume of exports was higher by 0.9 percent compared to the previous year, while imports stayed unchanged, resulting in a trade surplus of EUR6.8 billion.
