Vail Resorts Q2 Profit Misses Estimate; Boosts Dividend

Vail Resorts, Inc. (MTN) reported net income for the second quarter of $60.5 million or $1.65 per share, compared to $46.4 million or $1.27 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Total net revenue for the second quarter rose to $422.45 million from $373.33 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.70 per share on revenue of $414.13 million for the second quarter.

The company also said its Board of Directors has authorized a 10% increase in the quarterly cash dividend to $0.2075 per share from $0.1875 per share beginning with the dividend payable on April 9, 2013.

The company also announced its calendar year 2013 capital plan at a range of $130 million to $140 million.

Based on its year-to-date performance, the company reiterated the fiscal year 2013 guidance issued on January 15, 2013, which calls for net income of $39 million to $49 million.
