Semtech Corp. (SMTC), a supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, reported fourth-quarter GAAP net income of $13.1 million, up from $12.4 million in the year-ago period. Earnings per share for the latest fourth quarter was $0.19, same as last year.
Non-GAAP net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2013 was $33.1 million or $0.49 per share, compared to $21.6 million or $0.32 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.43 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales for the latest fourth quarter were $150.60 million, up 44.8 percent from $104.03 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2012. Six analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $149.12 million for the quarter.
Looking ahead for the first quarter of fiscal year 2014, the company expects GAAP earnings to be in the range of $0.17 to $0.24 per share, Non-GAAP earnings of $0.43 to $0.49 per share and net sales of $154.0 million to $162.0 million. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.45 per share on revenues of $152.21 million for the first quarter.
