Big Lots Inc. (BIG) reported fourth quarter EPS of $2.09 Wednesday morning, up from $1.75 a year ago. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.98. The company expects to report first quarter income from continuing operations in the range of $0.53 to $0.65 per share and between $3.05 and $3.25 per share for the full year 2013. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.75 and $3.16.
Big Lots gapped open sharply higher Wednesday, but traded in a range for the majority of the session. The stock closed up by 2.08 at $35.97. Big Lots broke out of a 3-week range and set a 6-month high.
