Vail Resorts Inc. (MTN) reported second quarter EPS of $1.65 after the close Wednesday, up from $1.27 a year ago. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.70. The company also boosted its quarterly dividend by 10 percent to $0.2075 per share.
Vail Resorts gapped open sharply higher Thursday and climbed throughout the first hour of trade. Shares finished up by 4.12 at $60.82 on above average volume. The stock surged past resistance and set a new high for the year.
