Medifast Inc. (MED) reported fourth quarter adjusted EPS of $0.28 after the close Thursday, up from $0.08 in the prior year period. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.25. The company expects to report first quarter EPS of $0.32 to $0.35 and between $1.70 and $1.80 for the full year 2013. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.45 and $1.76.
Medifast gapped open sharply lower Friday, but was range-bound throughout the session. The stock finished down by 1.44 at $22.96 on strong volume. Medifast closed testing the lower end of a 5-week range.
