Industrial production in Hungary declined for a fifth consecutive month in January, final data released by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office confirmed Thursday.
Production declined 1.4 percent annually in January, after falling 7.6 percent in December. On a working-day adjusted basis, output was down 1.4 percent, slower than a 3.4 percent decline recorded in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, industrial output increased 2.9 percent, according to seasonal and working day adjusted indices. All the figures matched the statistical office's preliminary estimate.
Industrial export sales rose 2.8 percent year-on-year in January, while domestic sales practically remained stagnant.
In January, total new orders in the observed branches of manufacturing declined 3.2 percent compared to the same month of 2012.
