Ecology & Environment, Inc. (EEI), a New York-based environmental consulting firm, reported a rise in second-quarter net income to $1.9 million or $0.45 per share, from $0.5 million or $0.12 per share in the year-ago quarter.
Meanwhile, consolidated revenues for the quarter declined to $36.2 million from $40.2 million in the prior year. Revenue less subcontract costs was $30.7 million flat with the year-ago quarter.
E & E president and Chief Executive, Kevin Neumaier stated, "With a stabilizing and slow improvement in revenue less subcontracts and some cost reductions, earnings are improving. Over the longer term we are seeing an improvement in our markets."
