Barr Full-year Profit Falls

Soft drinks company A.G.Barr p.l.c. (BAG.L) Thursday reported a fall in profit for the full year, on the back of increased operating expenses.

For the period, the firm posted profit before tax of 31.82 million pounds, down from 35.41 million pounds a year back. Profit after tax was 25.56 million pounds, down from 28.14 million pounds a year back.

On a per share basis, earnings for the year stood at 22.04 pence, compared with 24.34 pence a year back. However, adjusting for exceptional items, the company reported higher earnings per share of 24.68 pence compared with 22.16 pence a year back.

Revenue for the year witnessed a rise at 237.59 million pounds from 222.89 million pounds a year earlier. However, operating expenses rose to 76.21 million pounds from 68.38 million pounds a year back.

Looking ahead, the company said the U.K. economic outlook remains challenging and that it remains cautiously optimistic, but however, believes that its future prospects, either as part of a significantly larger merged business or on a standalone basis, are excellent.
