Hungary's average gross wages grew 2.5 percent in January from the same period of last year, the Central Statistical Office said Thursday. The annual growth rate was much weaker than the 4.5 percent rise forecast by economists.
At the same time, net earnings excluding family tax benefits grew by 3.9 percent in January compared to the previous year.
Average gross earnings increased by 3 percent in January in the business sector. In the public sector, it rose 1.8 percent, while it remain unchanged in non-profit institutions.
