Alstom India Ltd. said it has bagged a contract for Rs.573 crore (85 million euros or $115 million) from state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) for supplying equipment for three units of 660 MW boilers Nabinagar Power Generating Co. Ltd. (NPGCL) located in Nabinagar in Bihar.
Under the scope of the contract. Alstom will co-operate with BHEL in designing the boilers and supply identified pressure parts of the 660 MW super-critical boilers, along with pulverisers and airpreheater components. It will also assist BHEL with technical advisors during the erection and commissioning of the units.
The company said the key components would be manufactured in Alstom's manufacturing facilities in Wellsville and Concordia in the US, as well as in Durgapur and Shahabad in India. The units are expected to be commissioned by 2017-18.
Nabinagar Power Generating Company is a joint venture of NTPC and Bihar State Electricity Board. Alstom is the sole licensor of the super-critical technology of BHEL and is also collaborating with BHEL for the project, the company said, adding that the project has been awarded to BHEL as part of the NTPC Bulk 660 MW tender.
Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Alstom Thermal Power in India Patrick Ledermann said, "This contract is yet another confirmation of the strong business and technology co-operation that Alstom has forged with BHEL since 2005 in the field of super-critical boilers."
At the BSE, Alstom India closed Thursday's trading at Rs.323.60, up 0.76 percent from the previous close.
