Silver Wheaton Corp. (SLW, SLW.TO) reported that its fourth-quarter net earnings were US$177.7 million or US$0.50 per share, compared to US$144.7 million or US$0.41 per share in the comparable quarter last year, an increase of 23%. On average, ten analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of US$0.49 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues for the quarter were US$287.2 million compared to US$191.9 million in previous year period, representing a 50% increase. Three analysts had consensus revenue estimate of US$259.42 million for the quarter.
Separately, Silver Wheaton announced that its Board of Directors has declared its first quarterly cash dividend of US$0.14 per share. The quarterly dividend will be paid to holders of record of its common shares as of the close of business on April 2, 2013, and will be distributed on or about April 12, 2013.
