Swiss food and nutrition products giant Nestlé S.A. (NSRGY.PK, NSTR.L) has recalled tens of thousands of Kit Kat chocolate bars and Easter eggs from sale after it received complaints of finding plastic in the sweets, media reported.
Four versions of Kit Kat Chunky chocolate bars, such as the 48-gram size of the peanut butter, hazelnut, chocolate fudge and caramel flavors, as well as Kit Kat Chunky Collection Giant Egg were withdrawn from sale in eight countries. These countries include the U.K., Germany, Switzerland, Malta, Austria, Singapore, Philippines and Canada. No other products have been affected.
According to reports, the food giant's decision to take action follows complaints from seven consumers in the U.K. over finding a piece of plastic in the product. The plastic was said to be from moulds used to create the Kit Kat Chunky shape.
The company reportedly said, "So far, we have not received any other similar complaints, but to avoid any risk whatsoever to our consumers, we have decided to voluntarily recall the entire production of these four Kit Kat Chunky varieties and Kit Kat Chunky Collection Giant Egg manufactured from September 2012."
