Lithuania February Retail Sales Growth Slows

Lithuania's retail sales increased at a slower pace in February, data released by the Department of Statistics showed Wednesday.

Retail sales turnover, at constant prices, increased 1.5 percent year-on-year in February, following the previous month's 2.4 percent growth.

Overall trade, excluding sales of automotive fuel, was higher by 1.7 percent compared to last year, the agency said.

Sales of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco edged down 0.2 percent, while retail sales of textiles, clothing and footwear in specialized stores increased by 7.9 percent. There was a 0.9 percent annual growth in sales of automotive fuel during the month.

On a monthly basis, trade in the retail sector decreased 6.5 percent during the month, significantly slower than the 20.7 percent fall seen in January.
