Carl Zeiss Meditec H1 Revenue Rises - Update

Germany's medical technology company Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (CZMWF.PK) Tuesday reported 3 percent growth in first-half sales, while adjusted for currency effects, revenues rose about 4 percent.

Turnover for the six-month period increased to 442 million euros from 431.8 million euros in the previous year.

Sales in the Microsurgery strategic business unit grew about 6 percent to 207 million euros. Surgical Ophthalmology strategic business unit sales climbed around 16 percent to 60 million euros, as the business unit continued its positive development, the company said.

Meanwhile, revenues in Ophthalmic Systems strategic business unit declined nearly 5 percent to 176 million euros. The company noted that revenue generation in the second quarter was somewhat slower than expected in the business, despite higher order intake.

As a result, the company remains uncertain whether its target of at least equaling market growth can be achieved by the end of the current financial year in its Ophthalmic Systems strategic business unit.

On Frankfurt's Xetra, the shares are currently trading at 24.83 euros, up 0.69 percent, on a volume of 65 thousand shares.
