Turkey's industrial production increased at the fastest pace in nine months in February, data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Monday.
Industrial production increased 4.4 percent on an annual basis in February, after growing 2 percent in January. The latest growth was the fastest since May 2012, when production gained 5.7 percent.
Driving the overall growth in output, manufacturing production increased by 7 percent from a year earlier, while production of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply decreased 7.2 percent. Production in the mining and quarrying industry was lower by 3.2 percent compared to last year.
On a monthly basis, industrial production advanced 1.5 percent in February, slower than the 2.4 percent gain seen in the previous month, data showed.
