Tata Motors Ltd. reported March global sales, including Jaguar Land Rover, of 116,521 vehicles, down by 17 percent from the 139,655 units a year earlier.
Of the total sales, commercial vehicle (Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range) were 60,799 nos., compared to 63,791 units in March 2012, a decline of five of percent, while passenger cars accounted for 55,722, lower by 27 percent from the 75,864 units sold in March last year.
For the month under review, sales of its Jaguar Land Rover, which Tata purchased for $2.3 billion in 2008, stood at 42,682 units, a rise of around 17 percent from the 36,471 units sold in last March.
Jaguar sales for the month rose by 43 percent to 7,621 units from the 5,343 units in last March, while Land Rover sales were 35,061 vehicle, up by 13 percent from the 31,128 units for the same month last year..
Cumulative sales for the fiscal were 1,196,416 units, lower by four percent from the 1,252,573 vehicles in the corresponding period last year.
AT the BSE, Tata Motors shares are currently trading at Rs.275.50, down 0.95 percent from the previous close.
