Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced that the granting of two tentative approvals by US FDA for its Abbreviated New drug Applications (ANDA) for generation of version of Januvia, Sitagliptin tablets and generic version of Glumetza, Metformin HCl Extended-release tablets.
Sitagliptin tablets, 25mg, 50mg and 100mg are therapeutic equivalents of Merck Sharp and Dohme Corporation's tablets. Sitagliptin tablets have annual sales of around $2.7 billion in the US. Sitagliptin tablets are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type-2 diabetes mellitus.
Metformin HCl Extended-release tables, 500mg and 1000mg are therapeutic equivalents of Santarus Inc.'s Glumetza tablets and are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type-2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin HCl Extended-release tablets have annual sales of around $140 million in the US.
At he BSE, Sun Pharmaceuticals shares are currently trading at Rs.867.50, down 0.31 percent from the previous close.
