Unemployment rate in Turkey declined marginally in January, the latest figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Monday.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 9.4 percent in January from 9.5 percent in December. Nonetheless, the rate was still higher than 9 percent in the same month last year.
The number of unemployed persons slipped slightly to 2.63 million from 2.66 million a month earlier. Employment, at the same time, rose to 25.44 million from 25.35 million a month ago.
The seasonally adjusted employment rate was 46.1 percent compared to 46 percent in the previous month.
On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in January, higher than 10.2 percent a year earlier.
