Actelion Q1 Profit Grows - Quick Facts

Swiss pharmaceutical firm Actelion Ltd. (ALIOF.PK) posted 85% higher first-quarter GAAP operating income of 124.0 million Swiss francs, compared with the prior-year quarter's 67.1 million francs. In local currencies operating income increased by 86%. For the first quarter of 2013, net income amounted to 97.9 million francs, up significantly from 45.1 million francs a year ago, thereby representing a 117% growth in Swiss Franc terms or 119% in local currencies.

Excluding DDP, core earnings totaled 168.5 million francs, or 1.26 francs per share for the latest quarter, with adjusted net income standing at 144.2 million francs.

The company generated quarterly product sales of 432.8 million francs, a 5% increase in local currencies compared with last year's 415.8 million francs. Further, the company's share repurchase program of 800 million francs is on track to be completed by year-end.
