Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI, RCI.TO, RCI_A.TO, RCI_B.TO) posted first-quarter net income of C$353 million, compared with C$305 million last year, while quarterly earnings per share rose to C$0.68, from C$0.57 a year ago.
On an adjusted basis, net income improved to C$414 million, or C$0.80 per share from the prior year's C$360 million, or C$0.68 per share. On average, seven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of C$0.75 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Operating revenue for the quarter was C$3.03 billion, up 3% from C$2.94 billion a year earlier, while five analysts estimated revenues of C$3.10 billion for the quarter.
