WellPoint Inc. (WLP) reported first quarter EPS of $2.94 Wednesday morning, which topped the consensus estimate of $2.38. Full year 2013 adjusted EPS is expected to be at least $7.80. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $7.78.
WellPoint gapped up sharply Wednesday and rose during the first hour of trade. The stock ended the day with a gain of 4 points at $73.33 on above average volume. WellPoint climbed above a 3-week range and set a new high for the year.
