Intersil Posts Q1 Profit

Intersil Corp. (ISIL), Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $2.5 million or $0.02 per share, compared to net loss of $3.3 million or $0.03 per share last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.07 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter dropped to $131.7 million from $156.0 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $134.6 million for the quarter.

Looking forward the second quarter, the company expects loss of $0.03 to $0.02 per share and revenues of $135 million to $142 million. Analysts currently expect the company to report earnings of $0.02 per share on revenues of $145.59 million for the first-quarter.
