Platinum producer Lonmin Plc. (LMI.L, LNMIF.PK) said its Number Two furnace is being shut down, following an incident, but with no injuries reported. The incident took place at a time when the Number One furnace was shut down for its planned upgrade of the hearth and shell.
As per the initial inspection, a full repair to the Number Two furnace will take 30-40 days and a full inspection will be conducted once the furnace has cooled down later this week.
The Three Pyromet furnaces, having about 50% of capacity requirements, would continue to operate, the group noted.
The group added it would provide an update in due course on both the furnaces.
