JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU) Wednesday said third-quarter loss widened to $28.0 million or $0.12 per share from $17.4 million or $0.08 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Adjusted earnings for the quarter was $24.1 million or $0.10 per share. On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.11 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues totaled $405.3 million, up from $403.3 million last year. Analysts expected revenues of $417.28 million.
Gross margins dropped to 38.3 percent from 41.6 percent last year.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company has forecast revenues in the range of $420 million to $440 million. Analysts currently expect fourth-quarter revenues of $448.39 million.
