English soccer club Manchester United (MANU) Thursday reported third-quarter profit attributable to owners of the company of 3.63 million pounds, higher than 1.04 million pounds in the previous year. Earnings per share increased to 0.02 pounds sterling from 0.01 pounds sterling per share a year ago.
During the quarter, the company recorded a tax credit of 6.78 million pounds, compared to an expense of 1.71 million pounds a year earlier.
The Manchester, England based club's quarterly revenues climbed to 91.72 million pounds from 70.77 million pounds a year ago. Sponsorship revenue was up 52.2 percent from last year.
Ed Woodward, executive vice chairman stated, "Each of our three primary sectors - Commercial, Broadcasting and Matchday - delivered strong top-line gains and helped us achieve a record third quarter for both revenue and adjusted EBITDA."
For fiscal 2013, Manchester United continues to expect revenue to be in the range 350 million pounds to 360 million pounds and adjusted EBITDA to be in the range of 107 million pounds to 110 million pounds.
