Russel Metals Inc. (RUS.TO) Thursday reported first-quarter earnings of C$21.6 million or C$0.36 per share, down from C$32.9 million or C$0.53 per share last year.
Revenues for the quarter grew to C$821.8 million from C$802.9 million last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of C$0.45 per share on revenues of C$850.48 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
The company approved a dividend of C$0.35 per share, payable June 14 to shareholders of record as of May 24, 2013.
