Catholic Church Bombed In Tanzania

One person is dead and 50 are were injured when a church outside of Arusha, Tanzania was bombed. The explosion occurred on Sunday at the Roman Catholic church in the suburb of Olasiti, reports the BBC.

The explosion came as shock to worshippers and local residents of the relatively secure area. One suspect is currently in custody, according to the BBC, and the attack may have targeted the Vatican's ambassador to Tanzania and the archbishop of Arusha, both of whom were in attendance.

Security in the areas was heightened due to the VIP's visit and neither were injured in the attack. Local priest Father Peddy says he never saw it coming.

"I never expected anything like this to happen because this is not a city - it's a village," he told the BBC.
