Decline In Spanish Industrial Production Slows In March

The pace of decline in Spanish industrial output slowed significantly in March, data from statistical office Ine showed Thursday.

Production fell just 0.6 percent year-on-year in March on a working-day adjusted basis. This followed a 6.9 percent slump in the previous month and was also weaker than a 5.3 percent decline forecast by economists.

On an unadjusted basis, production fell 9.8 percent, accelerating from 9 percent decline in February.

Production of consumer goods fell 0.5 percent annually on an adjusted basis in March. Capital goods production gained 3.3 percent year-on-year and a similar growth was recorded in the energy sector.

Production of intermediate goods fell 4.5 percent in March from a year earlier.
