The pace of decline in Spanish industrial output slowed significantly in March, data from statistical office Ine showed Thursday.
Production fell just 0.6 percent year-on-year in March on a working-day adjusted basis. This followed a 6.9 percent slump in the previous month and was also weaker than a 5.3 percent decline forecast by economists.
On an unadjusted basis, production fell 9.8 percent, accelerating from 9 percent decline in February.
Production of consumer goods fell 0.5 percent annually on an adjusted basis in March. Capital goods production gained 3.3 percent year-on-year and a similar growth was recorded in the energy sector.
Production of intermediate goods fell 4.5 percent in March from a year earlier.
