Inflation in Finland eased more than expected in April, data released by Statistics Finland showed Tuesday.
The consumer price index rose 1.5 percent year-on-year in April, slower than 1.7 percent in March. Economists expect the rate of inflation to ease to 1.6 percent.
The slowdown primarily reflected fading impact of a vehicle tax hike during April last year and also the lower energy costs, the statistical office said.
Annual inflation, as measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices, was 2.4 percent. The index was 0.2 percent higher than in March.
The increase in consumer prices from a year earlier was due to increases in prices of food and restaurant and cafe services, the statistical agency said.
The consumer price index rose 0.1 percent between March and April.
