Unemployment rate in South Korea declined in April, the latest figures from Statistics Korea showed Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell to 3.1 percent in April from 3.2 percent in March. Economists expected the rate to remain at March's level.
The unadjusted rate was at 3.2 percent, down from 3.5 percent in March. The number of unemployed persons declined to 825,000 from 883,000 in March. Unemployment decreased 7.8 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, employment rose to 25.1 million from 24.5 million in the previous month. This was 1.4 percent higher than last year.
