Romania's economy expanded at a faster-than-expected pace in the first quarter, latest data showed Wednesday.
Gross domestic product (GDP) increased a seasonally and calendar-adjusted 1.4 percent on an annual basis in the first quarter, preliminary data released by the National Institute of Statistics showed. The rate of growth was bigger than the 1 percent expansion economists had forecast.
On an unadjusted basis, GDP advanced 2.1 percent year-on-year during the three-month period, data showed.
The statistical office said that an updated version of the GDP report will be published on June 5.
