Yes, we are talking about the "Social Suicide" app which has been catching up among the techies at the moment. But the social networking giant seems to not lose out on its beloved addicts. Facebook recently repealed the app, thus putting an end to its users committing social suicide.
But, what's this social suicide app all about? It is a mimicked version of the real-life lethal game of Russian Roulette. Christened as Social Roulette, the app which was launched earlier this week, gave the players a chance of deleting their own Facebook account, a social suicide. To play the game, the user needs to log in through their Facebook credentials, and post entry into the game.The players are given six chances to play the game. On failing in a attempt, the app would completely trespass into the user's Facebook account and delete the posts, likes, photos and friends, before deactivating the account. When the player wins the game, a message is posted to their timeline: "I played Social Roulette and survived."
To play this game, the user must play with their own account, and they can play only once a day. There is a 1 in 6 chance of deleting your account, and a 5 in 6 chance of saving your account. The app was developed in a bid to let users think beyond digital culture.
Facebook declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding Social Roulette, but said its goal is to protect the user experience, according to cnet.com.
