Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) reported net income for the third quarter of $2.5 billion or $0.46 per share, compared to $2.2 billion or $0.40 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted net income for the third quarter was $2.7 billion or $0.51 per share, compared to $2.6 million or $0.48 per share in the prior year quarter.
Net sales for the third quarter rose 5.4% to $12.22 billion from $11.59 billion in the same quarter last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.49 per share on revenue of $12.18 billion for the third quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
