ComScore: Google Tops April U.S. Search Engine Rankings

Google Inc. (GOOG) continued to top the U.S. Search Engine Rankings in April, with a 66.5% market share, according to the monthly qSearch analysis released by Internet data tracking firm comScore Inc. (SCOR) on Wednesday.

Google sites led the U.S. explicit core search market in April with 66.5% market share, followed by Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) sites with 17.3% (up 0.4 percentage points) and Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) sites with 12.0% (up 0.2 percentage points), comScore said. Ask Network accounted for 2.7% of explicit core searches, followed by AOL, Inc. with 1.4%.

20.0 billion explicit core searches were conducted in April, with Google sites ranking first with 13.3 billion. Microsoft sites ranked second with 3.5 billion searches (up 1%) followed by Yahoo! sites with 2.4 billion, Ask Network with 539 million and AOL with 290 million.
