Czech producer price inflation weakened more than economists expected in April, latest data showed Thursday.
The producer price index increased 0.5 percent from a year earlier, after recording a 1 percent gain in March and 1.3 percent growth in the month prior to that, the Czech Statistical Office said. Economists had forecast a 0.9 percent rise for April.
The growth of price level was the more significantly influenced by the higher prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, food products, beverages, tobacco. Prices fell primarily in coke, refined petroleum products, and basic metals, fabricated metal products.
The producer price index dropped 0.5 percent compared to March, when it stayed flat, the agency said.
