Italy's trade surplus increased in March from a year earlier, the latest figures published by statistical office Istat showed Thursday.
The trade balance was in a surplus of EUR 3.2 billion in March, a significant improvement compared to EUR 1.8 billion surplus in March last year.
Trade with EU countries resulted in a surplus of EUR 0.6 billion and the balance on trade with non-EU countries was in a surplus of EUR 2.6 billion.
Italy's total exports decreased 6 percent year-on-year in March and imports plunged 10.6 percent. On a monthly basis, exports gained 1.2 percent and imports rose 0.2 percent.
