K-9 Unit Finds 13 Pounds Of Meth Stashed In Gas Tank

Authorities in San Luis Obispo County, California have arrested a woman after finding 13 pounds of methamphetamine floating in her gas tank.

CalCoastNews.com reports that Deputy Al Barger and his dog were traveling on Highway 101 when the car in front of him made several abrupt lane changes, which caused him to run a check on the license plate, which showed that the car's registration had expired.

When he pulled the car over, the driver, Maria Guadalupe Garcia, 32, who had three children in her car, the officer learned that she had a prior history of transporting drugs. After consenting to a search of her car, Barger's dog found 13 pounds of methamphetamine in the gas tank, that carry an estimated street value of $228,000.

Garcia was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting a controlled substance, and three counts of child endangerment.
