Commuter Train Derails Near Connecticut Injures At Least 25

Two Metro-North Railroad trains ran into Friday evening in Connecticut, injuring at least 25 people but no fatalities reported, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

The incident took place around 6:10 pm ET near Fairfield, a town located in Fairfield County, Connecticut.

The MTA authorities in the locality said a train going eastwards from New Haven derailed near the rail station in Fairfield and then struck on a train in an adjacent track.

Police officials said the injured were being treated at St. Vincent's and Bridgeport hospitals, adding, the cause of the derailment was under investigation.

Following the collision, rail services were suspended in both directions between Stamford and New Haven.
